Connectivity Guidelines for Running Forge Agents

Forge Agents operate globally across diverse network environments.
The system is designed to work reliably even under constrained conditions.

1. Minimum Requirements

outbound internet access
UDP allowed (QUIC transport)
port 443 outbound (mandatory)
port 443 inbound not required
NAT-friendly operation

Agents initiate connections — Hub never dials into Agents.

2. Recommended Bandwidth

FFmpeg is the only adapter that benefits significantly from high bandwidth.

3. Latency Expectations

Forge Pool tolerates:

10–200 ms latency
1–10% packet loss
jitter up to 80 ms

These values represent typical operating envelopes.

QUIC ensures stability under these conditions.

4. Firewall & Enterprise Networks

Allow outbound:

UDP 443
TCP 443

Optional:

enterprise proxies supported via CONNECT
no inbound rules required

5. IPv4 / IPv6 Support

Agents work under:

IPv4 NAT
Carrier-grade NAT
IPv6 native
dual-stack links
